The Story

Setting: Step into the historic Hotel Kurrajong, which first welcomed guests in 1926 (true fact). Our tale unfolds in 1927, the inaugural year of Australia's new parliament in Canberra (also true).

Story: In 1911, Minister of Home Affairs King O’Malley introduced prohibition. It eventually ended in 1928, one year after the bar at Parliament House was opened and following a public vote (true story). Tonight, a heated debate will determine whether prohibition in the ACT should be repealed.

Adult Themes: Naturally, there’s murder – specifically, the mysterious death of Walter Burley Griffin.

Costumes: Guests are encouraged to dress in early 20th-century attire – farmers, police officers, politicians, protestors, or even iconic Aussie characters like Dame Edna. Any classic Australian stereotype works!

How Do Costumes and Characters Work? To keep things simple, your guests don’t need to match costumes with specific characters. What they wear won’t impact their role in the game. Characters are assigned on the night, so if someone cancels or extra guests join, the game can still run smoothly.
